This is a simple, basic recipe to combine beef & potatoes to create a meal that is a great base for dinner when combined with a salad or your favourite vegetables.
This recipe is a mixture of beef with both ‘standard’ potato and sweet potato. What transforms this meal from the basic ingredients to something far more flavoursome is the addition of a range of spices. Topped with a sprinkling of cheese for a great finish. Chili is added to create a mild spiciness. Change the amount of chili to your preference.
A simple, easy to make dinner all cooked in one pan. Definitely a recipe you will make again.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 450 g Red Potato cut into bite sized chunks
- 400 g Sweet Potato cut into bite sized chunks
- Salt to season
- Pepper to season
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Brown Onion diced
- 4 cloves Garlic crushed
- 500 g Ground Beef alternately use Beef & Pork mix
- 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 tsp Ground Chili
- 2 tsp Ground Cumin
- 1 tbsp Ground Thyme
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/3 cup Tomato Paste
- 1 cup Shredded Cheese I use 3 cheese pizza blend

Instructions
- Heat 2 tbsp Olive Oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Add potato and cook for approx 3 minutes while stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper then stir to mix through
- Add water then place cover over pan and cook for about 10 minutes.
- Remove lid and continue cooking a further 7-8 minutes or until potato is tender . Stir occasionally.
- Remove potato from pan, transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Add 1 tbsp Olive oil to pan.
- Add onion and cook for a few minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for a further minute.
- Preheat grill
- Add minced meat and cook for about 7-10 minutes or until meat is cooked through. Break lumps and stir occasionally.
- Add smoked paprika, ground chili, cumin, thyme & salt. Stir to mix through.
- Add tomato paste. Stir to mix through.
- Add potato back into pan and stir to mix through.
- Remove pan from heat & sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Place pan in oven and grill for a few minutes until cheese is melted.
- Remove pan from oven and serve.
