Peanut Satay Sauce With Roti

Our family loves dishes with peanut satay sauce.  When we go to Asian restaurants we are always looking for any satay menu options.  However, we find it is so ‘hit and miss’ as to what type of satay you will get.  Some restaurants ramp up the spiciness at the expense of the peanut flavour.  Some have a very thin satay sauce.  I admit we are very ‘picky and critical’ when it comes to our satay sauces.  Our preference is a satay that is lower on the spicy scale but far richer on the peanut (butter) taste scale.

This satay sauce provides a light spicy tang, but a wonderful thick sauce with a strong peanut flavour.  The onion and crunchy peanut butter, mixed through, adds to the rich texture of this sauce.

You can ‘amp up’ the spiciness, to your preference, by simply adding extra ground chilli.  This sauce is also fantastic for a range of other dishes such as chicken kebabs.

However, as is, it is a wonderful dipping sauce to accompany roti, and makes a perfect appetiser to any meal.

So if you prefer  a strong peanut flavour to your satay, then you should definitely try this recipe.  This satay sauce is very quick and easy to make.

Recipe Notes

This sauce can be used for a variety of dishes.  It is also great as a satay sauce to accompany chicken kebabs.

You can also make your own roti if you are so inclined.  I typically use store bought roti as, for me, it is usually messy and just not worth the effort.  I do acknowledge that most times, home made roti will be a better outcome.

I love everything you described about this recipe! I have roti in the fridge and will be making this sauce for them for sure.

Quick question if you do see this though! How long will excess keep in a jar? In the fridge I imagine?

    Thank you!!

Thanks for the feedback Alyssa. I would only keep the satay sauce in the fridge for a couple of days.
